Around the log cabins, you will feel in the heart of nature. Here, the forest is not feared. We observe it, we protect it. Many visitors who came here before are still surprised to discover some new places and aspects of the site that they had not suspected.
We must confess we don not miss room ! The domaine covers 50 hectares and you will have the opportunity to wander freely wherever your feet will lead you to... Between forest and clearings, between truffle trees and stone wall, there are a thousand and one ways to discover the site.
The site of the Cabanes at la Veyssière is in the heart of nature, next to the Hameau de la Veyssière.
We are located right next to Saint-Amand de Coly, rated as one of « the most beautiful villages in France ».
Saint-Amand is itself in the famous « golden triangle » of Black Périgord ; Sarlat – Montignac – Les Eyzies, which deserves it rare reputation. Prehistoric caves and « gouffres », villages dating back to the Moiddle-Age and troglodytic sites are numerous in the area of Périgord. From Saint-Amand, you can choose between two valleys.
The Vézère valley, dating back to pre-histoical times.
The Lascaux cave and les Eyzies, (known as the worldwide capital of pre-history) are the first two sites to be visited. But the interest in history of this area is such that we can find a pre-historical site every 2 kilometers !
At the beginning of the valley, there is le site du Regourdou which stands over Montignac, (800 meters away from the famous Grotte de Lascaux) where you will be given the opportunity to admire a place where the Man of Neandertal lived and its famous bears, the bears of the Regourdou (well alive ! Beware !).
Down the valley, you are advised to stop at the animal Park of the Thot and at the site of Castel- Merle at Sergeac !
Still further down the valley, the shelter of the Moustier and the Village de la Madeleine... This last site stands over the river and enables us to travel through time, from the pre-historical era to the end of the XIXth century. It is an authentic example of the troglodytic villages of Périgord.
At Sarlat (a place that any Périgord lover must see, especially at sunset),), you will discover the Dordogne Valley, which is the other great touristic axis of Black Périgord
That of the Middle-Ages. That of the neverending 100 years war during which Aquitaine was disputed by the French and the English. The most magnificent examples of this place are Beynac and Castelnaud, two famous big castles standing one in front of the othera nd which waged war to one another. Other times, otrher castles. That of Marqueyssac and its suspended gardens – certainly the most beautiful spot to admire the scenery of the valley of the river Dordogne – but also the Château des Milandes, former home to the famous showgirl Joséphine Baker. Other villages stand over this « hope river », along which generations of « gabariers » were born. The impressive fortified village of Domme, perched on top of a cliff. La Roque Gageac, built thanks to homes dug into the rock....etc
Many paradise places and secret treasures are to be discovered in Dordogne. After settling in your log cabin, feel free to ask us to advise you about interesting and authentic places to visit.
Don't forget that we are close to the « départements » of Lot, Corrèze and Lot- et-Garonne ; and that Rocamadour, Saint Cirq-Lapopie and Collonges-la-Rouge are not far away from here ...
